We convene leaders, building citywide collaborative strategies, increasing capacity to implement spiritual and social solutions resulting in building healthier communities.
Neutral Convener: The role of a neutral convener is vital in the progression of a larger vision than one person or organization can accomplish. Faith based non-profits, and community based organizations, by their very design, are mission driven, focused on a specific area, as they should be. When the motivation behind the mission takes on the larger systems and structure or spiritual transformation change, our experience is that a larger work of alignment and agreement on common goals calls for the work of a neutral convener. The convener has the skills and experience to unite a team of leaders to identify a strategy create steps to implementation realizing collective impacts.
The CHEV Story: The Coalition of Hispanic Evangelicals Valley Model (CHEV) – began in 2005, after years of relationship networking across our valley, it became obvious that a majority of Hispanic pastors and leaders were isolated, disconnected and looking for a way to come together. Local leaders met and came to a decision that something needed to change. A meeting convened, by George Ordway of Communities INC, of Hispanic pastors and leaders from several valley cities, met began building relationships a strategy emerged and was implemented.
Now many years later: CHEV has developed into a sustainable organization with a regional leadership team who have impacted the entire Central Valley through building a regional relationship network, providing leadership conferences with national and international speakers, prayer summits, marriage conferences, and the annual Feed the Valley project. More than 850 pastors have been trained through International Leadership Institute (ILI).Many other benefits all came into reality through recognizing a need, convening a meeting, hearing the common issues, raising up leadership, and addressing the issues as a regional network. Today Jim Reyes provides leadership to CHEV as chairman.
